Supporting the Government of Indonesia and Singapore to Develop Renewable Energies, Adaro Green – Medco Power – Energi Baru Signs Cooperation on EBT Development for Solar Panel Chain of Supply in Indonesia

PT Medco Power Indonesia (Medco Power), and PT Energi Baru TBS (Energi Baru) signed a memorandum of understanding for the development of renewable energy (EBT) and the Solar Photovoltaic (PV) and Battery Energy Storage System (SPEB) supply chain in Indonesia with several PV and battery manufacturers (OEM/Original Equipment Manufacturer).

The signing was attended by President Director of PT Adaro Power Dharma Djojonegoro, President Director of Medco Power Eka Satria, and CEO of Energi Baru Dimas Adi Wibowo, witnessed by Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan and Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security HE Senior Minister Teo Chee Hean at Fullerton Hotel Singapore on Thursday, March 16.

This collaboration is part of the company’s commitment to support the government in achieving the Net Zero Emission target through the acceleration of the development of the national solar panel industry for renewable energy development in Indonesia.

President Director of PT Adaro Power Dharma Djojonegoro said, “We are ready to support the government in developing the infrastructure and solar power generation industry in Indonesia. Solar power generation is the largest source of renewable energy that will contribute to more than 50% of domestic electricity generation by 2060. Adaro Green, together with Medco Power and Energi Baru, is ready to support the government’s efforts, through the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, regarding the use of domestic products for ongoing EBT projects, including by establishing cooperation related to the industrialization opportunities in the solar PV and SPEB supply chain. Our hope is that the readiness and plans of the business world and industry to prepare for the increasing demand for EBT can meet domestic and regional needs.

President Director of PT Medco Power Indonesia Eka Satria said this is Medco’s support for the accelerated implementation of energy.

CEO of PT Energi Baru TBS Dimas Adi Wibowo stated that they welcome and support the government’s efforts to accelerate the development of the renewable energy industry in Indonesia.

Earlier, the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment of the Republic of Indonesia signed a memorandum of understanding with the Singapore Prime Minister’s Office for the development of EBT.

This includes investment cooperation in the development of the EBT industry and manufacturing capabilities in Indonesia from upstream to downstream, as well as cross-border electricity trading between the two countries, which allows foreign exchange to enter Indonesia. Singapore’s interest in exporting Indonesian EBT also serves as an impetus to accelerate the national solar panel industrialization.

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said that the development of the solar panel industry must be done domestically.

The development of EBT and the opportunity for industrializing the solar PV and SPEB supply chain is done by Adaro Green, Medco Power, and Energi Baru along with several PV and battery manufacturers from domestic and foreign sources, including PT Utomo Juragan Atap Surya Indonesia, LONGi Solar Technology Co., Ltd, Jiangsu Seraphim Solar System Co., Ltd, Znshine PV-Tech Co., Ltd, Sungrow Power Supply Co., Ltd, PT Huawei Tech Investment, and REPT BATTERO Energy Co., Ltd.

This cooperation is expected to help create a favorable business climate in building the solar panel industry and manufacturing domestically, thereby achieving the desired project economic value.

This collaboration is one form of commitment from Adaro Green, Medco Power, and Energi Baru to support the Indonesian government’s program to increase domestic production, especially in the solar PV and SPEB supply chain industry in Indonesia.

Furthermore, this collaboration will also further enhance the contribution of Adaro Green, Medco Power, and Energi Baru in the development of EBT projects for a greener future for Indonesia.
